Elana released her first solo album, Zum Gali Gali, in 2007. Teaming up with world-music producer HYIM, she revamped classic Jewish family songs with a funky-modern flavor. For the past two years, Zum Gali Gali was selected as one of seven CDs to be distributed nationally through the PJ Library program. Elana is currently recording her second album of Jewish family music. Stay tuned! Elana’s creative fusion of old and new began when she recorded/performed with Hip-Hop Shabbat, a group that fuses Friday night Shabbat liturgy with hip-hop beats. Additionally, Elana was a pilot contributor to Sarah Lefton's innovative G-dcast project. Elana has also worked in more traditional roles in the Jewish community - as a song leader and early childhood music specialist. She currently serves as the full-time cantorial soloist at Peninsula Temple Beth El in San Mateo, California. In addition to leading Shabbat and High Holy Day services, Elana conducts engaging tot-Shabbats, prepares students for b’nai mitzvahs and brings hip, new songs to the religious school classroom. Elana plays rocking family concerts with her Zum Gali band at synagogues, museums, festivals and community centers.
